• Welcome to our blog

Our shared values in Y5: To care for myself and others by making sure we are all safe and happy. To be honest in all we do/say. We always work hard and try our best. We listen carefully and thoroughly. We make sure we are always giving our best, so everyone else can be the best that they can be. We look after our property.
We like to be 'leaders' and not 'followers' We always choose the 'good' light inside of us. We make the right choices at the right time.

Anyone can train hard for a short period. Winners give their best every hour of every day for months on end.

In 5V we like to stop and think - before we do or speak.

'Give children a thought and they’ll learn for a day. Teach them to think and they’ll learn for a lifetime.’David Hyerle
If you can imagine it, you can achieve it; if you can dream it, you can become it.- William Arthur Ward
You cannot write it, if you cannot say it; you cannot say it, if you haven't heard it. - Pie Corbett

We love to share our way of thinking, it does help us in our learning!

If I had…

We had a poetry unit – free style – the passed two weeks and the second week we looked at ‘Wings’ of Pie Corbett and wrote our very own poems based on the style of Pie. Here are a couple of poems and more will get added during our ICT lesson, when Y5’s will be able to log on to the class blog and blog their own work – for the first time! It’s very exciting to know they look forward to blogging, though some of our class friends – like Jatinder and Krish – have already done some entries! Please enjoy their efforts and if time permits, please leave them a friendly comment. In our Friendship entry you will find Harnoor’s poem, as her poem ties in with our PSHE topic!

Aviraj S is a boy ‘new’ to the country and he’s done his own poem:

I am
I am fast and wild
I wonder about space and the planets
I hear silly Y5 boys swimming
I see children and computers
I want games and chocolates for Christmas
I am fast and wild.

I am a goalkeeper
I am a fast footballer
I play football
I go to school and get on with my work
I play with my friends
I am a goalkeeper.
—AvirajS

SimranjitK worked very hard on her poem, she asked for little help, but with only one idea.

If I was a millionaire

If I was a millionaire,
I would visit all the oceans full of gold and have it all to myself.

If I was a millionaire,
I would visit a massive house with a swimming pool and swim for hours.

If I was a millionaire,
I would visit the planet made of gold and make sure all my friends are there with me.

If I was a millionaire,
I would go shopping and have everything I need brand new

If I was a millionaire,
I would travel to a planet that has a posh palace
and live there forever!
—SimranjitK

If I had a magic wand

If I had a magic wand,
I would turn rain into cash and
have gold pouring all on me, like a millionaire in his palace!

If I had a magic wand,
I would make my own planet out of chocolate
orbiting the other planets.

If I had a magic wand,
I would travel around the world on a magic carpet
swinging around the enormous earth!

If I had a magic wand,
I would invent a time machine
hurled me into the past and back into the future, exploring minds of people in every corner of the world.

If I had a magic wand,
I would shoot up, like a twinkly bright star in space,
breathing my last breath!

If I had a magic wand,
I would rock the world, like a real rock star
and be famous, signing autographs everywhere!

If I had a magic wand,
I would stop time immediately,
so I could do all my future homework in a second.

If I had a magic wand,
I would be a dream maker and make all my dreams come true!
–Jeevan

If I could breathe without gravity in space

If I could breathe without gravity in space,
I would stretch out to touch the stars’ breath,
knowing stars are shimmering, sparkling and spinning disco-balls, shining in the night sky!

If I could breathe without gravity in space,
I would watch the astronauts in space, as they blast off as quick as a bomb…

If I could breathe without gravity in space,
I would lie peacefully on the floating moon as it hoists, staring at me!

If I could breathe without gravity in space,
I would travel and discover people living on Mars, watching the sky swaying side to side.

If I could breathe without gravity in space,
I would make the sun have an extremely big smile, nodding his head sideways,
looking like a flowery sunflower.

Have you been in space?
—Komal

Ice and Sun

If I knew Sun and Ice…
The sly, cruel Ice is the cousin of Frost,
smearing through the land,
landing on innocent people’s cars as pieces of ice,
thick as Arctic pies, white as glamours of snowflakes!
Freezing victims of Ice are understanding the calm coldness of the night!

If I knew Sun and Ice…
They would be penetrating with flashes of coldness,
gripping necks of humans, melting down with hotness
vanishing rapidly without being noticed!
Only the independent forceful Sun glazed upon Ice…

If I knew Sun and Ice…
Ice would disappeared with misery and only a high,
melting, hot temperature would remain in its soul!

Do you know what happened between Sun and Ice?
—Anaya

What would you do if you could have this robot!
